Have removed Antivirus 2008, thanks to you, but keep getting 311.tmp error messages as well as others - any ideas.

Depending on the errors that you're getting or what the file is I would do a google search to see if they're important and if not just delete the file. You may also just remove them from startup so they don't popup and give you errors.

Start > Run > Regedt32 > H Key Current User > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Run
OR
Start > Run > MSCONFIG > Startup Tab

Both places will list startups and you can remove the files that are causing the problem. There's a good chance they were deleted with the AV08 but were left starting up which throws the errors.

I had the Antivirus 2008 problem as well. I removed it with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software. However, for this reason I'm now unable to select the 'Run...' option, I can't start a dos box, nor regedt32 and I can't even reboot in safe mode. Do you have any advice how to fix this now?

I tried your guide to get my control panel working. However, when I went to change the value to Zero, I noticed that there wasn't a "NoControlPanel" item to modify.

Any suggestions?

okay, so i did everything this guide said, and i deleted the files i scanned, and it detected no trojan, i did before but after this it didnt. is it gone? (i scanned on multiple programs)
